Lakeside Gardens & Gallery
Karen Mattson, Artist, is a long-term resident of Alaska currently living at Nancy Lake where she enjoys painting in watercolors, acrylics and oils. Her favorite subjects are florals, since she maintains a large perennial garden.
She is a signature member of the Alaska Watercolor Society , member of the Valley Fine Arts Association, Girdwood Center for Visual Arts, Denali Arts Council/Talkeetna Artists Guild, Palmer Arts Council and the Anchorage Woman's Club Paint Pushers group. She has won numerous awards, including having her watercolor, "Fox on the Rocks" chosen to be included in the Arts for Alaska Parks in 2006, "On the Lookout", an oil portrait of a Bald Eagle, made the top 50 for Alaska for Paint America 100, and in 2007, "Alaskan Autumn", watercolor was selected to be on the cover of the Mat-Su College 2007-2008 Bulletin. When she's not painting or gardening, she is out flying with her husband around Alaska collecting material for her next project. Please join her at the April 10, 2010 Second Saturday Art Walk and artist reception from 1-3 p.m. at Primrose Retirement Community; 889 N. Elkhorn Dr; Wasilla, AK. The show will feature watercolors depicting Alaska as "Spring Into Summer". The show continues until May 5, 2010. A free Mother's Day poster of "Summer Solstice", (Alaska Iris with Swan) will be given to those purchasing an original piece of art. Everyone is welcome and it's free!
